Suspended or expired certification? Watch out… It can happen.

It’s important to remember to keep up with your 60 PDUs every 3 years. That means that you have 36 months from the day you pass your exam to earn 60 PDUs.

This is important to know because missing the deadline will result in suspension of your PMP certificate… meaning you can’t say you’re PMP certified anywhere; not even in your resume. You don’t want that to happen. You have 1 year from suspension to correct the problem and get your PDUs. If after 1 year you still haven’t filled your 60 PMP PDU requirement, your PMP credential will expire, you can’t use your PMP credential anywhere, and you have to start the PMP Application all over – including exam fees.

What a waste of time and money! So take care of those PDUs.

PMI has a specific set of categories with activities that count as valid PMP PDU: Education and Giving Back to the Profession.

Examples of Education activities: courses offered by PMI’s Registered Education Providers (PMI R.E.P), continuing education (college course or conferences, seminars, webinars by a non-PMI R.E.P training organization), or self-paced learning.
